How Precious Blessings began
We are George and Heidi Versfeld, an average family living in Die Wilgers, Pretoria and we believe that each child is a precious blessing, deserving to grow up in a loving, safe home.
In 2004 our family moved to Ghana where George worked and we were fortunate enough to be actively involved with a Children’s Home.
In 2009 we moved to Zimbabwe and proceeded to adopt our eldest son, an abandoned Down Syndrome baby, and in 2010 we adopted our second son, orphaned when his mother died soon after childbirth, also from Ghana.
Upon our return to South Africa in 2012 we were approved as a Place of Safety home under the umbrella of Tshwane Place of Safety Association, an organisation that has been instrumental in making in difference in vulnerable children’s lives since 2003. We became a Nursery in 2017, which means that we can care for up to 6 babies and toddles.
We are very blessed to still have our three biological daughters living at home together with our two adopted sons, aged 9 and 7 years.
We are also blessed to currently have two toddler boys in long term / foster care, and a toddler girl and baby girl in place of safety.
We absolutely love what we do and have witnessed some amazing changes in little ones when they experience a safe loving home.
The joy our Precious Blessings bring to their forever families is beyond measure. With help we hope to continue loving and nurturing many more Precious Blessings.
